SUMMER OF AVIA

A story based on Gila Almagor's autobiographical book. A group of teenagers who survived the Holocaust, in a boarding school in the early 50's. They struggle with their painful memories. The place where they feel secure is under the Dommim tree. The story takes place in an orphan village of holocaust survivors and other Israeli youths with problems. During the day they are like all other adolescents, but at night the painful number of stories are woven in this powerful and agonizing story of this very special group of young people. Avia - was born in Israel and looks for clues to her late father's identity, resisting the influences of her mentally ill mother. Yorek-born in Poland, a holocaust survivor, trying to win Avia's heart. Yula- finds out that the father she though dead, is alive. Nira-a weird girl who has last her memory. The group spurns her while she tries to gain their friendship. When two holocaust survivors arrive in the village claiming they are her parents, she denies it.
